Holiday Barbie 2016 - Happy Dolliday Countdown to Christmas!

Hey everyone!
Today we're taking a look at the lovely 2016 Holiday Barbies.

This year was the first year I started collecting these and they seem to be the least favorite amongst collectors, so any additional ones I got were a treat as they were better in quality!  I still really like both of the ones I have though, and I think they are beautiful!.

The two dolls I have are the Kmart exclusive auburn haired Barbie and the Latina brunette Barbie.

I already have a full review of the Auburn, Kmart exclusive already here on the blog, if you are interested!

Here is a stock photo of all three that were released in the regular line (minus the Kmart exclusive).

The box was designed to look like a snowglobe, which received a lot of criticism, but since I didn't have any expectations prior, I thought they were cute.

Here are my two with restyled hair.

Originally,  the Kmart exclusive had her hair pulled up on the sides as you can see in this photo below:

And here's a photo of the brunette with her original hair style:

The most controversial thing about these Barbies was the introduction of the plastic decor on the dress and overall LACK of accessories on the doll (no earrings, no necklace, no painted nails, etc.)

People were not happy with these clip on bodices, lol.

I honestly prefer them without them!  The overall dress underneath is very pretty.

I love the ombre effect combined with the sparkle.

Interestingly, the shoes were both unique designs, aka, they didn't use the same shoe mold in different colors.

The brunette has the Neysa facemold (often used in the recent Teresa dolls).

This one is a Mille facemold, which I love because we don't see her with brown eyes and red hair very often!

Even though these two don't scream "glitz and glamour" like many of the other holiday Barbies, I still find them pretty and charming in their own way and am happy to have them in my collection!  Thank you to everyone who has left a comment on my previous posts.

It's so nice to hear from you all!

xoxo Farrah

  1. I do remember your review on the Kmart exclusive doll, still to this day you're the only person I've seen talk about her. I also remember these dolls being roasted on the Internet, but it seems quite common with the Holiday Barbies. I did like the outfits with the gradient colors and I loved the snow globe box. I believe it was also the first time they used the Neysa sculpt and this was the second doll with the Claudette sculpt, a fairly new sculpt back then.

I've loved this series with your Christmas dolls. I hope we can hear about you soon, but I do understand that you've been busy. Have a lovely Christmas time with your family!

  2. If the bodice would have been crocheted, it would have been perfect. Both dolls look beautiful but I personally feel that their outfits are a bit simple. I miss the glitter and glamour. :)

    1. That would've been great if they crocheted the bodices! I totally agree with you, I prefer the glitter and glamour of the earlier ones, too. :)
