Happy Valentine's Day! Valentine Barbie 1997

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today I wanted to share my Valentine Barbie from 1997 that I recently purchased from eBay earlier this month.  This is the first Valentine themed Barbie I have in my collection!

She comes in a very simple slim line box without very many decorative elements.  On the back of the box are two cutout Valentines to keep in your collection or share with a friend. (They poems are pretty cut and dry, lol.)

Out of the box, she comes with the doll, a brush and a little heart-shaped box of chocolates. (No stand included.)  She's on the twist n' turn body with the 90 degree arms and bend and click knees.

Her dress is a pretty pattern of purple, red, pink and silver hearts.  She has a net-like fabric for the top of her dress and a purple ribbon bow placed to the side of her hip.

Her hair looks amazing right out of the box!  It's straight and shiny with no glue or sticky texture at all.

She has a matching ribbon headband and pink "pearl" earrings with a matching ring.  I love it when dolls come with earrings and rings!

She has those Barbie pumps we all know and love; this time in a lovely shade of hot pink.

Here's a close up look at her beautifully molded box of chocolates!

She has the Christie face mold with brown eyes (with a pink accent!) and soft red lips.

She is absolutely adorable!  I can't believe how much I love this beautiful doll.  I am really starting to love and appreciate Barbie's from the 90s and early 2000s.  They're just so well made and their clothing and accessories just don't compare to what we have nowadays.  I will cherish her!

I hope you guys are doing well and enjoyed this review.

Best wishes for a very Happy Valentine's Day filled with love, hope and happiness.

See you soon!

xoxo

  1. I agree, this doll is special as opposed to what we see currently. She's probably most similar to today's Fashionistas, but with much nicer clothes and face paint, and a well-made accessory. Hope that you had a nice day with your Mister and your girls.

  3. Hi Farrah;
I really like the Valentine Barbie. Her face is beautiful. Who wouldn't want a pair of those hot pink shoes. We will be getting our Irish and Easter Barbies out soon.
    Thank you for sharing.

  4. Hi Farrah! Happy belated Valentine's Day! I hope you had an amazing day with your family.

I absolutely love this doll. I grew up in the 90s/early 00s (I was born in the late 80s), so anything from that era is very nostalgic to me. Her hair looks beautiful and pretty good quality, and her dress and accessories are lovely. I never owned a Christie doll with this sculpt as a child, but I do remember them from the Barbie magazines and albums. I wish Mattel would do more re-releases of dolls from this era, like they did with the Totally Hair one.

    1. Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, MC! I wish they would do more re-releases as well as I enjoy this era so much. I never had a Christie face-mold doll either growing up, so it's so fun to add some to my collection now. She really is such a nice doll! She was probably under $10 when she was released as well and it's hard to believe she was probably the equivalent of basically what the Fashionistas are today. By the way, I just realized you had a cooking blog as well, so I subscribed! :)
