Monster High Twyla (New Scaremester)

A few months ago (like 6!) I purchased my first Monster High Twyla doll.
She is the 2nd version of Twyla Boogeyman that was released in a line called New Scaremester
I bought mine at Target, but she can be found here (on sale for $12!):  Monster High New Scaremester Twyla Doll  (originally $19.99).

She's really cute and I'm glad to have her in my collection, although she really needs a good boil wash to smooth out her hair.
If you collect Monster High dolls and are interested in seeing a review of her please check out my video!

I can't believe today is the last day of August.  It's also hard to believe Pumpkin Pie starts school next week. She's going to be a big 1st grader!
I know most of the world has already started school again, but up here in our area, we never start until after Labor Day and it's really late this year.

I'm trying to enjoy my last week of "slightly" sleeping in before those 530 am wake up calls (in reality, more like 6am, lol.)

I've also been trying to "fall clean" and go through toys and stuff as well as find a new way to organize my doll collection.  Since I am renting a house and it's always open to different family members that often come to visit, I have been trying to keep it cleaner and reduce the clutter.  I don't feel comfortable having my dolls displayed since I don't really have a good space to keep it organized.  I am thinking about just packing them all in boxes and totes so they stay nice and neat and just take the ones out I want to photograph so they aren't all scattered around. Once we have our own home and I can feel more comfortable doing whatever I want, I'd love to have a doll/craft room and be able to organize and display them all!

To be honest, I'm still not totally comfortable with people knowing I collect dolls because I don't really know anyone else in "real life" that does.
I guess I still sort of want to keep this hobby private for now as well and I much more enjoy sharing it with my "blog family", which is all of you!
I love you guys!

Anyway, hopefully I will eventually get over my shyness.  (I guess that is one thing Twyla and I have in common!)
Not caring about what other people think is one of the biggest gifts you can give yourself, in my opinion.

In the meantime, here are a few photos of Twyla I took out and about on the farm.
Hope you have a great week!

How can the Boogey Man be that scary when he has a daughter as cute as this? ;)

  1. Great photos Farrah! I love the one of her hanging upside down >.< Also I hope you can sort clean up your collection how you like it :) I'm going through the same problem, my room is just so cluttered with dolls and I'm thinking of placing them in categorised boxes and then take individuals out to photography but I'm not sure!! Oh well I better decide soon or my room is going to just overflow with dolls ^.^

  2. She's a beauty, and I love her legs and shoes. MH dolls always have such awesome shoes don't they :-). It's great indeed to have a blog community to share our dolls with isn't it, in real life people don't always understand why dolls are so fascinating (but we do!!!). Have a lovely week and I hope your little girl enjoys the school! xxx

  3. Farrah, she's really pretty! I am not a collector of these dolls (my goodness I really DO NOT need another slippery slope to slide down) but if I were, this one would be very attractive to me, her lovely hair colours and lilac skin. She does look great amongst the flowers and leaves on the farm.
I know exactly what you mean about having people see your dolls and preferring them not to know about your particular hobby, I'm almost the same except that once a person is in my home I don't mind, it's in the street that I feel embarrassed about being seen with a doll. I suppose at home I'm comfy on my own turf, but in the street I'm fair game for anyone who thinks that I am a little too 'old' to be playing with a doll or two!! ;)
Having said that, I'm fortunate enough at home that I have a doll/sewing room, so I don't need to hide anything away. I hope you will have that one day too :)
And I also hope that your little girls first day as a First Grader goes well :)

    1. Thanks Sharon! I am the same way about photos in public, although if I have my daughters with me it's so much easier. It's it silly that we get self-conscious about these things...like who really cares!? Haha..thanks for your kind words as well :)

  4. Hi Farrah, she's very beautiful, as usual I really enjoy your photosessions and reviews. I understand you about being shy about doll collecting. I've come out of the closet last year with some chosen colleagues, but the community in internet is such a great way to share.

    1. Hi Billa,
Thank you so much! It's nice to hear you've come out of the "doll closet" with some close friends, it must be a relief to share this hobby with others. I agree, I love this community :)

  6. The pictures are great, she looks like she was having fun too. I especially like the one with the flowers, the colors are awesome!

Most of my friends know I'm a "crazy doll lady"--Barbie Girl, Evil Twin and I wear the badge proudly! My mom had an enormous Barbie collection though, so it doesn't seem strange to me at all. She did however keep hers under wraps, but for an entirely different reason. Hers were "new, never removed from box" and she kept them that way. You can imagine how panicked she was when she discovered that one of my nieces had opened several of the boxes! I definitely didn't inherit that trait, mine get "played" with regularly!

    1. That it fabulous, Flo! I love your attitude about it all. I think I will be like that eventually. It's better to embrace it than be embarrassed by it, right? That's great that your mom was a collector as well! Yes, I can definitely imagine how panicked she may have been when your niece opened some of them! It's definitely more fun to open them, I agree!

  7. I never heard of this monster high doll before but she is really pretty. let me know how organizing dolls and doll clothes go! I really need help in that area. I too think it would be easier if I knew someone who shared the same interest in dolls with me that I could go take pictures with!

  8. Twyla photographs beautifully -- especially with the flowers!

I joke that because the dolls are out on display -- there being nowhere else to put them in a single-room house -- I can never again date anybody who doesn't collect action figures, toy trains, or similar, (But then, why would I?) I go back and forth between thinking eventually it'd be nice to live somewhere that has a little room solely for hobbies, so that I can choose what visitors see, and figuring it's my house and I get to be surrounded by what I like.

If anybody's ever obnoxious about my collections, the plan is to launch into a long, boring spiel on how having dolls is teaching me sewing skills. I figure somewhere between bust darts and ruffles, the judger will change the subject.

    1. I LOVE your philosophy! :) It's so great to have a like-minded partner when it comes to collecting. Mine doesn't collect anything so to him, this hobby was a little "weird" at first, but now I've caught him browsing Craig's List for dolls as well as picking me one up from the store once in a while. I think he's seen how much fun I get out of it and how I love to photograph them so he's much more supportive now.
If we had our own house, I'd be better at just displaying them in open areas, but since people are always in and out of here, I just feel weird. This was my grandparent's home and my uncle is the landlord. He wants things just as they used to be (still not over their passing, is my understanding) so I had a reality check about it this week and that's where this new "un-sureness" has sprouted from!
I really appreciate everyone's comment and support! :)
