My 18 inch Doll Collection

Hello, and welcome back to the blog!  

It's been a while since my last post, and to be honest, it was hard to get going again, because I didn't know where to start, but I'm back and wanted to share one of my collections with you all.  

As I try to organize my dolls, I figured I'd show you guys what I've accumulated since I started collecting in 2014. 

The photos below are a bit outdated as I have gotten rid of one of those dolls and added 2 additional AG ones, but I still wanted to use these for a blog post, so the photos weren't wasted, (lol) so here they are!

The twins. 

These are two American Girl Elizabeth dolls that I purchase used on eBay in early 2015.  I originally got them for a custom project I wanted to do, but never quite got around to yet. They sort of remind me of Holly and Poppy O'hair from Ever After High.

I got the one on the left first and she was in good condition, except for her wig, wonky sleepy eye that doesn't totally close and red smudge on her nose (which I think is cute.)  The one on the right was second and I couldn't resist her little bob haircut.  Little Button likes to play with these two, so that's partly why I haven't taken their wigs off to customize! (That and just being lazy). ;)

These are the blue-eyed gals.  

I wasn't originally going to get Caroline, but once I found out she was being retired, I figured I better so I didn't regret it later.  I ended up buying her brand new from the AG website while they had a sale for free shipping.  I actually got her at the same time as I got Samantha.  (Hello tax return!) She's a gorgeous doll, but I haven't fully "bonded" with her if that makes sense.  Her hair seems high maintenance.  I can't decide if I want to keep her, but I did a nice photo shoot with her which I will share soon!

I got Julie in late spring 2015 from an eBay seller.  This was right after the BeForever upgrade and I really wanted a "Classic" outfit Julie.  I got her brand new in box for $99 with free shipping, so I thought that was a good deal!

Samantha has my favorite hair out of them all.

These three beauties have my favorite of the two molds so far (and I have since added Grace as of Dec last year).

The first is a 2014 Harmony Club doll named Lyric, then there is Journey Girls Meredith and Our Generation Kendra.   I have since sold Lyric as I just didn't bond with her.

Karito Kids!

Araceli (Pita) was the first large doll I bought.  I got both of these gals in used condition on Ebay and they are still some of my favorites. :) I need to repaint Pita's lips at some point and I'm thinking of trying a "downy dunk" with Ingrid's (Zoey) hair to see if I can make it softer again.

So, since this photo was taken, the only doll I have sold is Lyric.  I have since gotten two more American Girls (Grace and #59) with Lea on the way that I purchased this week!  

I also have a My Life doll in her box still that I would like to do a review on, but I believe she is from 2014 so it would be a "retro-review" at this point. ;) 

Some day I would love to build a larger scale doll house with a kitchen, living area and bedrooms to display everything.  I really like Hannah's AG rooms from Never Grow Up and Flo's from Say Hello to My Little Friend's blog.   I love how they both decorates them and I think it's such a creative way to display your collection.  Lovely! 

As for larger scale accessories, currently, the only things we have are the Our Generation diner (which is amazing!) as well as 2 doll beds.  I would LOVE to build up a larger collection of these things, but it's all about squeezing it into the budget. I really love the musical instruments that AG comes out with, such as the guitar, violin and now Melody's keyboard (squee!!).  My favorite room decor is from Mary Ellen's line.  I love her whole living room set.  I also love most of the BeForever accessories (especially the beds.)

What about you guys?  I know quite a few of you collect larger scale dolls, but do you have a favorite in your own collection? 

Thanks for sticking around during my little hiatus.  I am still backing up photos to my hard drive, but now that my sister's wedding is over, I feel like I have more time to blog again.  Horray!

In-Store Report August

Happy Friday! Happy 3 day weekend (even better)!  A week or two ago, I snapped a few photos of some dolls that caught my eye when I was in Walmart.  I didn't get any of them (so proud), but I thought they were all cute and wanted to share what's been in my local store.  We seem to be way behind on getting new stuff, but I'm hoping to check some different Walmarts this weekend.  I have to stay out of Target for now as it's too tempting, lol. 

Hasbro released their version of the newest Disney Princess called Elena of Avalor.  She is the first office Latina princess and her character is featured in a new show on Disney Jr.  I LOVE her dress.  I think I like the Disney Store version of her better, though as she resembles the character much better (as is usually the case with Disney Store versions).

The Disney Lego sets are always tempting, but I have to pass on these.  I just found out about the new Walt Disney World Cinderella set that came out and I am holding out for that one.  That set is incredible!!

These Little Live Pets seem pretty cute.  They girls actually each got one for their birthday and they really like them.  They swim around in the bathtub and are absolutely adorable! I highly recommend these little turtles for little kids in the 4-8 range.

Here's a few of the $5 budget Barbies.  They are pretty cheap and I'm not interested in them as a collector at all, but my daughters love them and take them swimming all the time.  It's a great alternate for little kids rather than having them ruin a $19 Barbie. :)

This little Chelsea doll looks like she could be Donut Top's little sister. (I hope you don't mind, that I linked that to your review of her, MonsterCrafts!) :)  I should've grabbed her, but I just don't really care for the molded tops, so I passed. She's really cute though, so....

Those nesting dolls.... ahhh!

I have never really been tempted to buy a Bratz doll, but when I saw these "Study Abroad" ones, I have to say, I was interested.  I recently saw them on sale on the TRU website for $4.99 each, but I held off.  I really do not need to start another collection!  I'm trying so hard to be good!!! :)

This was the also the first time that I've been tempted to buy a Shopkins set for myself.  The girls have tons of them, but I have never really cared to purchase any for myself.  I saw this one and almost crumbled...look at the little tiny ukelele!! :)

I am REALLY trying to resist buying the Shopkins Happy Places dollhouse set.  Those are seriously trying to lurk me in.

I have pretty much stopped collecting the Disney Tsum Tsum minis...I have a good batch that I'm happy with, so unless I see one I REALLY like, I am going to try not to add any more. Snow White and the tiny Joy, though are so cute!

 Genie Chic Evie

I currently do not own any of the Disney Descendant dolls.  I think they are really pretty, but again, I'm trying not to start any other collections.  If I were though, I think Evie is my favorite character.  I haven't watched the webisodes (was there a movie?), so I don't know what her "personality" is, but looks-wise, she's my favorite of the dolls.

There is a new one that just came out called CJ Hook, that I really might get, though. :) 

I also really like the Ally one. (!!!)

Of course, the new Monster High rebooted dolls are starting to filter in.  So far, I've only picked up the Cleo and Lagoona ones with their pets.  I hope to get the other ones with their pets, but those are the only ones, for now that I'm interested in.  I like some of the new faces, but not all and I don't like the non-articulated ones as they are really hard to photograph.

Project Mc2 has peaked my interest lately and I'd like to get one of each character at some point.  So far, it seems like there's been 3 articulated versions of each character that have been released so I'm trying to pick my favorite version of each.  I still haven't gotten any yet.  I definitely want to try to get these when they are on sale!

Last but not least, I've had my eye on this little DC Superhero girls action figure, which I actually did get a few days later with some money left over from a gift card I had.  I'll do a review on her shortly!

As for now, it's time for bed.  I've been watching the series Outlander on Starz all week while backing up more photos to Flickr and I have to force myself to turn it off and go to bed!  I'm so happy to have this 3 day weekend coming up.  I'm really looking forward to catching up on everyone's blogs!

Just a quick Hello and some Updates :)

Hey everyone!
I hope you're all doing well and having a great rest of your summer (or winter, wherever you are!)
I just wanted to pop in real quickly and say hi.  I've gotten a bit behind on blogging this summer because, as it turns out, my computer completely ran out of space to upload any more photos!
I've spent the month of August backing up thousands of photos (probably more like hundreds, but it feels like thousands, lol) to Flickr and trying to figure out a good storage system for all of the video I've taken since the girls were born.
And it's a lot!

So I forced myself to undergo this project to get my photos and videos all backed up in case anything ever happened to my computer and I lost them all.
The end is in sight and I've been considering using the M-disc system, so hoping to get a driver and the discs soon, which will allow me to get a lot of photos and videos off the computer so I have more room to start fresh.

I've also been pretty busy with helping my sister plan for her wedding next month and just taking time to enjoy the beautiful weather.

I've collected some really fun new dolls these past two months, which I'm so excited to do reviews on once I am all sorted out.

We also had a great vacation in Long Lake again this year, which I'm current editing through the photos for, which should be ready for a post soon.

More about this guy later. :)

Blind Bags: Monster High Minis, Care Bears and Toy Story

Blind bag opening video (sorry the volume is a little low again!) 

Hi everyone!  Just stopping in for a quickie.  Today's post is about a recent blind bag opening video the girls and I made together.  We ended up getting a few Monster High Mini blind bags as well as a Care Bear and Toy Story one.  

Blind bags are all the rage in our house and have been for at least the past year.  The girls LOVE them.  For me, personally, I like to collect the Care Bear ones (they just released Series 4!) as well as the My Little Pony, select Disney and now these adorable little Monster High ones. 

Below are the ones we ended up getting:

I LOVE these new minis.  I love blind bags in general because I think they make great "toys" for the larger scale dolls.  They have a nice collector appeal ot them and I can't wait to get more!
