July Flew By!

Hello lovely blogging friends.  It seems like ages since I posted.  I have to admit, on our vacation last week, I did a total digital detox.  Crazy!!  No Facebook, no Instagram, no Blogger, and really no internet except for occasionally checking the Weather Channel. :)
It felt really good. I got deep into a book (but haven't finished it yet) and I spent a lot of time with my little gals and family.

I will admit, I'm having a little bit of the post-vacation blues.  I always do!  Coming home to this beautiful place certainly takes the sting away a little, though.

Today was my first day back to work and it was SO NOT FUN.  I seemed to have picked up Little Button's cough she's had over the past few weeks so talking on the phone to patients was really awkward.  "Hi, I'm your (cough, cough) nurse, (cough, cough) just wanted to call about your (cough, cough) surgery coming up (cough, cough.)  Haha, I guess it's better than coughing in their faces if I were still working in the hospital!

Here is my July in a series of photos, just showing what we were up to.  I'll have the vacation photos up in a separate post so this is really just the first 3 weeks. :)

July was raspberry and blackberry season for us!  I had forgotten about all of the berries that were scattered around the farm.  Some patches seem to be the same ones from my childhood.  We ate a lot of berries.  Fingers were stained purple and mouths were happy.

We ended up putting up a small pool this year, but it's been too cold to swim in so the girls have realized how much fun wading (and then sitting...and then laying) in the creek can be!
One of our favorite things in July was to walk down to this little area after dinner for the nightly cool-down in the creek.

During July, when I would take my walk in this field, the air smelled like chamomile tea.  There were daisies everywhere and the ground appeared to be bathed in purple as the wild chicory came into bloom.

I could never get tired of the views around the farm.  So thankful to be here. :)
I hope you all had a great month and it's been fun catching up on everyone's blogs.
I hope to have my July doll haul video up soon!
Hope the week brings you lots of fun and happy moments.   They are there, we just have to try to focus on them the best we can :)

Farrah xo

  4. Mmmmmm, blackberries! That's one thing I miss from our old place, we had a ton of them. I love this time of year because of all the things that are ready to eat.

    1. Thank you, Linda!! :) The only downside is that it takes forever to drive anywhere since we are in a really rural area, but I guess it is worth it! (Saves money, probably too.) :) xoxo

  6. July did fly by in a flash! I so love seeing your pictures of the farm. It is so nostalgic for me as it so reminds me of my family's farm where I grew up. We had a family gathering at my brothers a couple of weeks ago and were telling stories of our farm. My cousins all remembered stories from coming to visit us. Our farm was like summer camp to everyone and we loved having them all come for a visit! Playing in the creek, picking berries (and eating them), making tents out of sheets and running in the fields -- such sweet memories! Thanks for sharing!

    1. I am so glad you enjoy photos of the farm as I know your own childhood farm is so dear to you. Is that property still in your family at all? There really is nothing like a farm in the summer. :)

  7. Hola Farrah, it's lovely to see your post and your beautiful girls and surroundings....looks like you had a lovely 'fruitful' July ;)
I think picking berries from the bushes and eating them straight away is soooo part of childhood....I remember it so well! And the rumbly tummy afterwards and the stained faces, hands and mouths.
Sorry to hear that you have been unwell but hope that the cough is now on it's way out.
I hope your August is just as great :)
big hugs Sharon in Spain x

  8. No Internetting, a gorgeous place, and lots of photography? Sounds like a great vacation to me!

Those photos of berries are stunning, and they remind me of my childhood in Vermont. I used to pick raspberries every summer in my backyard! Those and tiny wild strawberries. :)
