Summer Solstice

Happy Father's Day to all of you Daddios out there.
We had a great, laid back Father's Day and the girls lavished their dad with hugs, kisses, and handmade cards.  My father-in-law, brother-in-law and niece came over for lunch and the weather was beautiful and sunny and it was a gorgeous day spent in good company.

I have to admit, though, I get a little sad on Father's Day as the 3 year anniversary of my dad's passing is coming up in a few weeks.  Seeing everyone's posts and photos on Facebook makes it a little hard as well.  I am happy to see everyone celebrating their amazing fathers, but it does make me miss mine!

I have come to a very good, peaceful place with it all though, but today is always a little hard.

I was so happy to realize this afternoon that it was also the Summer Solstice!
I love summer and the fact that it's bright and sunny when I wake up and doesn't get dark here until almost 9pm.  It's hard to believe I was writing this post 6 months ago!

The girls were in bed early tonight as we had a really busy weekend, so around 730pm, I headed out for a walk around the farm.
The light was so pretty and I wish I had sneaked a doll with me to capture some good glam shots!
After I started walking, I felt a lot better (as I always do.)

Here's the last shot I took as I headed inside around 845pm.  Still light out!
I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day and enjoyed the light of the Summer (or Winter depending on where you are) Solstice.
As always, thanks for stopping by.

  1. Happy Fathers Day! It isn't fathers day in New Zealand, we have ours I think in September.. I don't know why, oh well! Glad you had a lovely day! Also I send my condolences for your father. These pics are super pretty! I miss that golden glow of the sun and being able to walk around and it still be light at like 9.00 pm! The sun sets for me at the moment at like 5pm. My days are so short!!! It's winter over here, i cannot wait for it to be summer again!!
    Have a good one!

    1. Hi Lydia!
I think Father's Day is celebrated on different days everywhere, lol...not sure why either! Thank you for your sweet words regarding my dad. :) It is always so interesting to think of the Southern Hemisphere being opposite seasons as us. Growing up, I had a penpal in South Africa and we would always be amazed when the other one was experiencing summer! I hope spring comes soon for you..you're halfway there to summer already! :)
      Hugs,
      Farrah

  3. I am sorry about your dads passing, but remember, he will always be in our hearts and that's what matters :). I hope you guys had a great fathers day, my family didn't do much (raining here). I didn't even realize it was summer solstice! Well maybe a little cause I was riding my bike after it rained and it was about 8:30!
    Have a great day!

    1. Yes, you are right, Halo! I feel like I always get little signs from him that he's around. ;) Thank you for your sweet comment. I love being able to have time outside after dinner...I should dust off my bike and take it for a ride too!
Have a great day as well!

  5. I'm sorry about your dad, my own dad had been gone now for 20 years...the time goes so quickly and yet there is not a day goes past without thinking of him....yours, like mine, will always remain there in your heart.
I am glad to hear that your girls gave their own daddy a lovely day :)
The photos are lovely, this really is my most favourite time of the year.....I'd have summer all year round if I could! The long sunny days, the warm scented evenings, just prefect!
    Big hugs from Spain xxx
