Hello, hello!
I feel like it's been ages since I last blogged! I don't have anything particularly specific to write about today, but I just wanted to check in with a quick "Hi" as I've missed you all.
We just got back on Sunday from a family trip to Florida to visit my brother in the St. Petersburg area. We ended up driving down (from where we live in NY) on Thanksgiving Day so this famously food-a-licious holiday was spent in a hotel eating turkey subs at our halfway point in Fayetteville, NC! It was so weird. :)
We stayed at my aunt and uncle's condo in Tarpon Springs (love, love, loved it!) and visited a few beaches, had dinner and drinks with Florida family, spent time with my brother and sister-in-law, and even managed to stay overnight at Disney one night!
We had a great time, but more on that later. :)
As for the blog, I have struggled with finding more time for blogging and I am trying my best not to let anxiety build up as it sometimes can this time of year. I love to write and post photos so much, but unfortunately, having a full time job and little kids and a husband doesn't leave much time for hobbies. :( If I could wave a magic wand and be able to do blogging instead of go to work, I would totally do that!! I know as things move on, I will eventually have more and more time, but for now, I feel like I've been putting too much pressure on myself for getting in regular posts, especially my routine ones like the "Monthly Wrap Ups", "In-store Reports" and "Doll Haul."
It's time to let go a little and enjoy the wonderful present moment.
I will probably be taking a little bit of a blogging break for the rest of the month, just to catch up on some things I need to get done around here. I have some Christmas decorating to finish as well some gifts to make and crafts I want to do. I am a sucker for Christmas movies so most of my evenings will probably be spent watching movies and eating a bunch of sugary goodness that I don't usually eat at any other times of the year! I'm working on a few photo books to give as Christmas gifts as well as cleaning and donating a lot of toys and kids stuff that have built up over the years. I also want to try to back up all of the photos on my computer to Flickr until I purchase a hard drive. It doesn't sound like much, but when I only have an hour or two of free time each day, it seems to get sucked up so quickly!
So in summary, I am trying to enjoy more of life in the present moment for now instead of worrying about documenting every little thing or quickly immortalizing it on the blog. I want this space to be an enjoyable place to share my dolls and daily life so my intuition is telling me to step back a little and enjoy this holiday season and get my stuff done that needs to be done!
I have a few drafts almost ready to be posted that I hope to add soon, but for now, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying all of your own holiday festivities! :) This is one of my most favorite times of the year. :)

Sounds like a lovely vacation, even if your Thanksgiving dinner was a bit unconventional! I hear you on it taking a lot of time, I don't think that those who don't write a blog realize that side of it sometimes. Sometimes you have to take a break and make some changes. Looking forward to seeing your posts, no matter when you post them. New Year approaches, a good time to make changes!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Flo! :) When I see your wonderful photo stories, I can appreciate how much time it must have taken you to set everything up, take the photos, write the story and edit. The New Year really is a great time to step back and change things up a bit. Thank you for your support!
DeleteHello Farrah,
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pictures from your trip. I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season. I used to post every week when I first started, but realized I'd rather spend the time it takes preparing the post to work on my minis. Now I post much less often...sometimes only every 2 months...and I actually like it better. Blogging should be fun, don't ruin it by stressing out...we will be here when you post ;)
Big hug
Giac
Hi Giac,
DeleteYes, exactly! You said it perfectly. It should definitely be fun and spending time actually doing the crafting part and enjoying the hobby is what matters most. Thank you for your kind words. :)
XO Farrah
Looks like you guys enjoyed yourselves in Florida. I agree with Giac. I also feel guilty that I don't post as often as I had planned and I haven't done very many photo story episodes which I was hoping to do. I hadn't realized how much work that would actually be. I do think the most important things are to spend time with those beautiful little girls and time just enjoying the hobby part of collecting dolls. I will tell you (and I think you know this) that those little ones will grow up way to quickly for you -- I know mine certainly have. My eldest will be going away to school for her last 2 years of college (starting in the fall of 2016) and I miss her already! Lately, we have been talking a lot about Christmas's past and how fun they were for me when they were little! Look forward to reading your posts whenever they do come!
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis,
DeleteYou are sooo right about spending lots of time with the girls as they are growing so quickly. I am glad to be aware of that because I always think "at this age they want to spend every moment with me and it won't always be like that!" I already know I will miss it. You always seem to have so much love and appreciation for your girls and I love hearing about them! :)
What a gorgeous picture of Florida! Coming to your post, sometimes keeping the pace with regular blogging can be very hard, I can understand you so well! Expecially when one realizes that people like what you're doing, I have a feeling of almost letting down my friends. But at times is simply impossibile. Take your time it will be a pleasure to read you whenever you're able to post something!"
ReplyDeleteHi Billa,
DeleteI am glad you understand! I think this is a pretty common thing with bloggers...you jump in with so many plans to do everything you want to do, but it takes so much more time then we realize! I think the people that blog daily or even a few times a week have more hours in the day to spend then the average person that works full time (or just stay up really late)! I am so happy to have so many kind blogging friends that are so supportive! :)
Ooooh I'm so envious of your trip to Florida, one of my favourite places to visit in the US....and it's been soooo long!! It certainly sounds like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and hope you get to relax and enjoy the special time with your family.
I too sometimes feel guilty that I don't do enough for my blog but I decided not to get too hung up on it. If it gets done, then it does, if it doesn't, well no big deal, it will eventually.
Just enjoy! Big hugs and Best Wishes from Spain xx
Your story about eating Thanksgiving turkey in a hotel reminds me of the Christmas we had Christmas dinner at McDonalds - also because of family commitments and having to travel long distances. We had the whole McDonalds to ourselves and it has become a fun memory. Glad you had a good holiday. And as for the blog, it's your blog. You should do what is right for you and your family/life at this moment in time. It will change in the future and then you can do something different. We're friends, we have blogs too and we understand. Have a great Christmas.
